The Rector has appointed a number of delegates to assist in various areas.

Rector’s Delegate for Logistics
Professor Joseph Micallef, Faculty of Information & Communication Technology
Assists the Rector, ProRectors and the relevant administrative units with miscellaneous information gathering to back the formulation of the University’s operational and strategic plan. This will entail a variety of benchmarking exercises to determine how resources (energy, support staff, lecturing space, library facilities, laboratories etc.) are being utilized and to identify how the University can work more effectively and cost efficiently particularly when measured up against international counterparts.

Rector’s Delegate regarding the University ICT Strategy
Professor Josef Lauri, Faculty of Science
Assists the Rector, ProRectors and the relevant administrative units in the coordination of the broad consultation required to formulate the University’s ICT Strategy. This will entail the introduction of state-of-the-art systems for human resources management, finance, alumni management, facilities management, project management etc. to work in tandem with the existing Students Information Management System.

Rector’s Delegate for Financial Affairs
Mr Peter Baldacchino, Faculty of Economics, Management & Accountancy
Assists the Rector, ProRectors and the relevant administrative units on the Financial Management of the University, its satellites and commercial companies. This entails day-to-day trouble shooting on issues of a financial nature and support in the formulation of the financial plan of the University.

Rector’s Delegate for International Relations
Professor Stephen Calleya, Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies
Assists the Rector, ProRectors and the relevant administrative units in the liaison with Embassies, with the international marketing of the University, in the participation of the University in strategic international fora, and in the formulation and implementation of an international strategy for the University from an organizational and administrative viewpoint.

Rector’s Delegate for International Students' Wellbeing
Dr Maureen Cole, Faculty of Economics, Management & Accountancy
Assists the Rector, the ProRectors, in particular the ProRector for Student and Institutional Affairs, and the relevant administrative units to ensure that the wellbeing – academic as well as personal - of International Students is being catered for adequately. This entails identifying difficulties being faced by international students and assisting in day-to-day troubleshooting in this regard.

Rector’s Delegate for Postgraduate Programmes
Professor Angela Xuereb, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and Institute of Health Care
Assists the Rector, the ProRectors, in particular the ProRector for Academic Affairs and the relevant administrative units to take stock of all the postgraduate programmes with an eye to streamlining the format of course description including the description of study units and expected learning outcomes where applicable. The incumbent also assists in the refinement of a framework for postgraduate regulations, and in the identification of the resource requirements of each postgraduate programme.

Rector’s Delegate for Undergraduate Programmes
Dr Grace Grima, Faculty of Education
Assists the Rector, the ProRectors, in particular the ProRector for Academic Affairs, and the relevant administrative units to take stock of all the undergraduate programmes with an eye to streamlining the format of course description including the description of study units and expected learning outcomes where applicable. The incumbent also assists in the refinement of a framework for undergraduate regulations, and in the identification of the resource requirements of each undergraduate programme.

Rector’s Delegate for MCAST and Industry Liaison
Professor Maurice Grech, Faculty of Engineering
Assists the Rector, the ProRectors, in particular the ProRector for Research and Innovation, and the relevant administrative units to build an ongoing dialogue and collaboration with the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology on the one hand, and with the respective sectors of Industry on the other. The aim here is to promote and facilitate student mobility between MCAST and University and vice-versa where applicable, and moreover, in tandem with MCAST, to organize a coordinated dialogue to identify and cater for the training needs of the various sectors of industry.

Rector’s Delegate for MCST Liaison
Dr Gordon Pace, Faculty of Science
This post will support the Rector, the ProRectors, in particular the ProRector for Research and Innovation, and the relevant administrative units to liaise with the Malta Council for Science and Technology to help in the unfolding of the National RTDI Strategic plan and to ensure that the University maximizes its participation in the various programmes of the National RTDI plan, and influences its future direction.
