WORLD WATER DAY
World Water Day was celebrated on Thursday 22 March 2012. For this the Geography Division at the Mediterranean Institute and the University of Malta Geographical Society (UMGS) organised a seminar on the Geographies of Water.
The event took place in the Common Room of University House, Msida Campus between 1100hrs and 1300hrs. The seminar was addressed by Dr Julia Brown from the Geography Department of the University of Portsmouth and various other speakers who carry out research on various geographical aspects related to water resources and management.

VISITING LECTURER: Dr LARS KELLER, UNIVERSITY OF INNSBRUCK
Dr Lars Keller is a Senior Lecturer at the Institut für Geographie at the Universität Innsbruck. Since completing his PhD on the Quality of Life in the Alpine Space he has been a research visitor at the Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille and the Institut de Géographie Alpine, Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble. Dr Keller’s regular visits to Malta are made possible through the EuRopean Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students, Erasmus Programme.

DEAN'S LIST AWARD
Inclusion in the Dean's List is based on the level of academic achievement during the first two years of the Course.
To feature in the Dean's list, students must have high percentile scores/grades in:
- Principal Areas of Study (B.A.)
- Principal and Subsidiary Areas of Study (B.A. (Hons.))
- Optional Units (B.A. and B.A. (Hons.))
The following are the criteria currently being used:
- 80 ECTS with Grade "A" or better
- 20 ECTS - Grade B+
- 20 ECTS - Passes
- No fail/re-sit
- Recommendation from the Head of Department/Co-ordinator
