The Academic Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in collaboration with the Department of Translational Studies, under the umbrella of the Humanities and Medical Science Programme (HUMS), has published a glossary of Maltese terms related to the speciality of obstetrics and gynaecology. Compiled by Ms. Elizabeth Cassar, the technical glossary dedicated to the speciality of obstetrics and gynaecology is a welcome addition as an aid to help the medical student, doctor and midwife in communicating better with Maltese patients. It should also serve as an excellent tool for translators and interpreters working on medical texts. The work also includes background chapters relating to the development of dictionaries and translational tools, and the use of the vernacular in medical and midwifery-nursing education.
