DESCRIPTION The objective of this study-unit is to introduce students to an in-depth analysis of the syntax of the Italian language. Starting with a definition and an overview of this field of study, the study-unit will then go on to discuss syntax as a set of principles governing the arrangement of words in a sentence. During the first part of the study-unit, the study-unit will focus on multiclause complex sentences by analysing the way they are organized. The study-unit will explain the importance of syntactic competence in the expression of thought. During the second part of the study-unit, the focus will shift to single clause sentences, with a description of their various elements and the way they are structured. The study-unit will also aim to consolidate the lexical skills of students. Multimedia will be used as a tool to harmonize theoretical discussion and analysis of contemporary Italian texts.
