DESCRIPTION Ethics I

(1) The 'objectivist', 'subjectivist' and 'functionalist' meaning of 'good' in a moral context;
(2) What is man for? Does birth and death reveal what is man's purpose?;
(3) Is happiness the fulfilment of love, fidelity to [universal] law, or the maximization of communication?;
(4) The meaning of virtuous life and happiness;
(5) The relation of desire, reason and choice;
(6) Practical reason and intentionality;
(7) Freedom, determinism and moral responsibility.

Ethics II

A discussion of the ethical theories of Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, Immanuel Kant, Utilitarians, Emmanuel Levinas and A.N. Whitehead.
