TITLE Spanish Language Ab Initio 1

DESCRIPTION Course in Spanish Language, Level 1.

For this unit no previous knowledge of the language is required. Using a hands-on active methodology in which the student communicates in Spanish from the very first day, students learn to develop and use simple everyday expressions designed to meet basic needs, like saying hello and goodbye, and present and talk about their immediate environment.

Study-unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit for complete beginners is to initiate the process of achieving competence in understanding, speaking, reading and writing Spanish. It will cover the the first part of the A1 or 'Beginner' level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as set out at http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/education/elp/elp-reg/Source/Key_reference/Overview_CEFRscales_EN.pdf

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete nature and introduce him/herself and others.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to say hello and goodbye; ask for and give personal information and interact in presentations; describe people by their appearance and character ; ask and tell the time and talk about schedules; express likes and dislikes using simple structures; and interact in bars, shops, markets and restaurants.
