- Give the students sound, hands on experience in the use of art and design materials and to enhance their capacity of visualisation;
- Give the students basic visual literacy training;
- Enhance students' capacity in the visual interpretation of 2D & 3D form;
- Introduce students to colour theory and the use of colour in art, architecture and design;
- Lay the grounding and prepare students for further research in architecture, art and design.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
1. Have basic knowledge on the use of a variety of art and design mediums and materials;
2. Interpret 2D and 3D form and train in visual measurement;

4. Make use of theories of colour;
5. Enhance student motor controls.

The work in the two semesters is linked, and the Diploma will only be awarded following the successful completion of both semester’s work.
