The President of Malta, H.E. the Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca in collaboration with the Centre for Labour Studies launched the Forum Nazzjonali tat-Trade Unions (FNTU) in July 2014. The role of the forum is to launch informative campaigns, hold seminars and carry out scientific research reflecting the public opinion on Trade Unions. It also provides unions the opportunity to share experiences and challenges.

H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, during the opening of the seminar emphasised that in nowadays reality there should be working policies that seek the balance between family and work. Maltese unions met to discuss the differences between the rights enjoyed by Public Sector employees, and those working in the Private Sector when talking about Family Friendly Measures. The respective unions highlighted the best practices from the private sector that have already been adopted.
