Camilleri, Charlò is Senior Lecturer in Spiritual Theology and a member of the Moral Theology Department. After successfully completing a Licentiate in Pastoral Theology (S.Th.L.) with the dissertation on "Carmel: A Spirituality of Beauty", in 2004 he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in the Interdisciplinary Course for Formators (CIFS) at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Then in 2007, he obtained his Doctorate in Spiritual Theology (S.Th.D.) on "Union with God as Transformation in Beauty. A Literary-Spiritual Analysis of the Colloquies of Santa Maria Maddalena de’ Pazzi (1566-1607)." Camilleri's lectures specialise in Spiritual Theology, Consecrated Life, and Gender Issues. From 2008-2018 he served as Executive Director of the Carmelite Institute Malta promoting research and study of Spirituality and Mysticism. Camilleri has also been invited many a time to deliver conferences abroad on these areas. He is still member of the Board of Directors of the same Institute and member of the Akkademja tal-Malti. Author of various peer-reviewed articles and books, Rev. Camilleri's latest works include various areas of St M. Magdalene de Pazzi's mysticism, Christian Meditation, spirituality and mysticism, as well as his first collection of poems entitled "Tattwaġġi". In 2019 he was appointed by the Carmelite Order as Project Editor for the critical edition of Jean de Saint-Samson's complete works.
Rev. Dr Camilleri was appointed Research Fellow at the Bloemfontein Free State University, South Africa and is currently a member of the International Editorial Board of 'Carmel in the World' a spirituality journal for the laity. He is also enrolled with Spiritual Directors Europe.
The interdisciplinary approach is highly valued by Rev. Dr Camilleri who apart from having a regular lecturing load is supervisor to several post graduate students, MA's and Ph.D's.
