Mark Debono is a Junior College Senior Lecturer II at the Ġ.F. Abela Junior College, University of Malta, where he teaches Systems of Knowledge. This interdisciplinary subject covers politics, art, environment, and science/technology. He completed his doctoral thesis in pedagogical sciences at the University of Cyprus under the supervision of Professor Marianna Papastephanou. In his thesis, which deals with the theory and philosophy of education, he critically analysed the use of hegemonic ‘truth’ in dialogic education. Mark’s latest publications focus on the educational limits of ‘truth’ in dialogue and the difference between transmissive and participatory pedagogies. His research interests involve exploring dominant narratives in various contexts. The philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche and Jacques Derrida are significant motivations for his work.
