Dr.Ing. Martin Zammit read engineering at the University of Malta. He also holds an MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Warwick, UK.

His academic specialisation is in telecommunications engineering, small enterprise strategy, and strategic operations management. Prior to joining academia he held engineering management positions in manufacturing, telecommunications, and electricity supply. Dr Zammit has been involved in international consultancy projects where he has acted as a catalyst in the development of enterprise and the transformation of organisations.

Dr. Zammit's research activities address two complementary and critical themes across both industry and service sector organisations: the strategic benefits of operational and supply chain capability; and the dis-benefits of a deficiency in innovative thinking. His research typically focuses on the design and management of supply chain systems in industrial and service scenarios. Dr. Zammit is interested in the evolution of inter-firm relationships, the creation and modelling of collaborative business networks, the reduction of risk and adoption of flexibility, and the dynamics of innovation.

Dr Zammit favours a research style of close collaboration with business practitioners, allowing the fusion of rigorous academic investigation with the need for practical relevance. He characteristically focuses on how operational dynamics align with customer value. This contributes to the manner in which organisations create sustainable and resilient competitive advantage.
