Dr Philip Sciortino has been working as a Family Doctor since 1991.Since then he has received specific training in International Primary Care at the Beersheba University of the Negev.Following post graduate Master's Degree in Public Health he developed an interest in Medical Education and Health Services research. He has since then qualified for his Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners and later awarded the Fellowship of the Malta College of Family Doctors. He has contributed to the development of Specialist Training for Family Doctors in Malta especially in curriculum and assessment. In 2004 he received Teacher Training at the Royal College of General Practitioners. This enabled the transfer of adragogic and assessment skills required for the training and exit assessment of the first cohorts of trained Family Doctors in Malta.

For the past 20 years he was responsible for the Continuous Professional Development program of the Malta College till 2018. Currently an active trainer in the Specialist Training Program of the Department of Health.

Supervises a number of Master's Degree Dissertations and contributes to teaching in other Departments.

He has developed the curriculum of the Undergraduate Program and a Master's Degree of the University of Malta Department of Family Medicine. Currently Head of Department, member of the Medical Education Unit and member of the Faculty Board.
