Prof Simon Attard Montalto was educated at St Edward’s College, Malta, and the University of Liverpool Medical School where he qualified MB.ChB. (1985). He completed postgraduate training in paediatrics in various hospitals in the UK, including The Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, Guy’s and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. He obtained the DCH (1987), MRCP (1988), and was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (1997) and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Child Health (1998). He was awarded a doctorate (MD) from Liverpool University (2000) for his thesis on ‘Nutritional and Metabolic changes in Children undergoing treatment for Malignant Disease’.

Prof Attard Montalto was appointed Chairman of the Department of Paediatrics at St Luke’s Hospital, Malta in 1996. He is currently Head of the Academic Department of Paediatrics at the Malta Medical School. In August 2007 he was appointed associate Professor of Paediatrics, and full Professor in 2010. He is the current Chairman of the Malta Resuscitation Council and is the National Course Director for EPALS, Course Director for BLS, EPLS and NLS, and instructor on EPILS and GIC. He has chaired/sat on numerous National, clinical, administrative and academic Boards. He has published numerous scientific papers and several textbooks for undergraduate and postgraduate training in paediatrics.

He is married to Jane Susan Berry and has two sons, Edward and Nicholas.
