To schedule your first appointment with one of the counsellors is a simple procedure. Call personally at our offices or contact the Counselling Unit Intake Officer and we will guide you through the procedure.

You will be given an appointment within a few days for an intake session. This intake session lasts for about 30 minutes. Here the Intake Session Sheet [PDF] will be filled, and:

  • the nature of the issue presented will be identified
  • the situation will be assessed
  • the Client Agreement [PDF] will be presented and the procedures of the counselling unit will be explained
  • questions related to the services offered will be clarified. (Refer also to the FAQ section in our website)

At the end of this session, you will be given the first available appointment with one of the counsellors. If this is not possible, you will be registered on our waiting list and you will be contacted as soon as an appointment becomes available. During the intake session, you can indicate whether you prefer a male or female counsellor, however you cannot attend counselling with a counsellor who is also your lecturer/tutor.

At the end of the Intake Session, you will be handed a Feedback Form [PDF] to fill in once you terminate your counselling process with us.
