My search was finally over in 2004 when I came across a Masters degree programme where all knowledge gained from previous degrees, diplomas and certificates could finally come together and guide me beyond. A degree which unlike others, provides you with tools to re-invent, re-structure, deconstruct, re-build and muse over different possible scenarios. Furthermore it enabled me to focus, simplify, connect, cluster, network and above all, soar above challenges and come up with different ways of tackling them. Ways which make me smile and wonder “how did I not think of that before!!” The MA Creativity & Innovation provided me with tools with which I could confidently trust to carry me forward and upwards in my career and personal life. Like each movement in tango, they interweave in unique sequences, creating and recreating with every beat. The dance is yours. Finally, a Masters Degree which nourishes the very core of humanity; creativity.
Natalie Debono, (Senior Monitor - Broadcasting Authority, Lecturer - MCAST, Coordinator - Green Drinks Malta, Tango Enthusiast) MA Creativity and Innovation, graduated 2006
Being already deeply immersed in the business world, both locally and in Europe, the Masters in Innovation gave me an added insight into both the potential futures, and also in how to see my present from under different coloured hats (with acknowledgment to Dr De Bono!). This course is not for the faint-hearted and definitely not for those that prefer to live within a comfortable little cushioned box. I've continued to stretch my boundaries and go across my own limits (see www.acrosslimits.com) and I can sincerely recommend this path to those that want to find that elusive fertile oasis within their own barren desert of a cut and dried lifestyle.
Angele Giuliano, MA Creativity and Innovation, graduated 2006
This course has probably been one of my most useful and rewarding educational experiences. Although it is run by the Edward de Bono Institute, its focus and subject areas, far from being limited to his work, are wide-ranging, eclectic and inspiring. The mix of faculty and student backgrounds is just as varied bringing diverse and challenging discussion to every lecture. The subject matter will challenge you to understand – and go beyond – what you perceive to be the limits of your creative talents and to further refine them in a way that enables you to then apply them to a much broader spectrum of tasks. On a practical level, the insights and knowledge I gained have had immeasurable impact on my professional work in entrepreneurship and product design.
Richard Muscat, (User Experience Specialist, Red Gate Software, Cambridge, http://www.red-gate.com), MA Creativity and Innovation, graduated 2006
With nothing else similar being offered at the University of Malta, I jumped at the opportunity to be one of the first intake of students to read for the MA in Creativity and Innovation. This course appeals to anyone who enjoys taking an active role in their learning. During lectures students are encouraged to engage in discussions and workshops, allowing the students to process what they learn, making the experience all the more meaningful. I am now proud to be an academic member of staff of the Institute that delivers this Master programme. Besides the benefit of engaging in such a dynamic learning environment, the program allows the students to be prepared to be part of a global scenario where change and unpredictability make creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship essential skills for success.
Shirley Pulis Xerxen, University Lecturer, MA Creativity and Innovation, graduated 2006
The Masters in Creativity and Innovation was a brain stimulating course. I have been a doctor since 1992 and a qualified surgeon since 1999. I specialised in Cardiothoracic surgery and I have been trained to do things without much creativity. This course has been a wonderful trip into the world of creativity which knows no boundries. As they say there is a fine line between creativity and insanity and this course can take you there!
Kevin Schembri, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, MA Creativity and Innovation, graduated 2009
When choosing my undergraduate course at University, I wanted to delve into a study area which comprised not only of technical and theoretical material, but one which could possibly provide me with a competitive edge. Combining Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) with Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) offered by The Edward de Bono Institute, proved to be the perfect match! Living in a fast paced world one cannot wait for the bulb to light up near one’s head. If one wants to compete in this environment, ideas have to be generated continuously and opportunities identified when the window of opportunity is still wide open. This and much more, is exactly what these courses are aimed at achieving…
