| DESCRIPTION | "I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." Albert Einstein Imagination is definitely the most powerful activity of human thought and certainly the most interesting. It is suited of its very nature to be the vehicle of active creativity, the source and generator of concepts and creative ideas. If this mysterious strength could be harnessed properly, one could be riding on it creating design at will. This study unit offers students a brief understanding of the meaning of imagination, exploring its strength, and its usefulness when applied to design thinking. One cannot even begin to imagine understanding Imagination without practice. Workshops and discussions will be the centre of this study unit, to orientate and help students develop design thinking, exploring their abilities in design thinking through application of imagination. "Without this playing with fantasy no creative work has ever yet come to birth. The debt we owe to the play of imagination is incalculable." Carl Jung Reading List: - de Bono, E. (1970). Lateral thinking. - Altshuller, G. (1994). And suddenly the inventor appeared. - Calvino Italo (1974). The invisible City. - De Saint-Exupery Antoine (1944). The little prince. |
