| DESCRIPTION | Is creativity something only a few people can possess, or is everyone creative? Is it possible to be creative in all aspects of your life, or is it confined to activity within the arts? Is our society encouraging the development of creativity in our youth or have we become too knowledgeable and rational a society to allow such creativity? What are the conditions that make up a creative adolescent? In this module, social, cultural, psychological and philosophical perspectives on the nature of creativity are explored within the youth discourse. What it means to be creative is considered in the context of young people's contemporary lives, at home, in educational settings, in their social/political gathering and in the community. This module aims to develop course participant's knowledge and understanding of the role of creativity in the life of young people. This will be done through a study of both theoretical and practical literature. Explorations of creativity in ICT and multimedia applications designed for young people will be undertaken. By the end of this study unit students will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of theories of creativity with particular application to youth. They will also be expected to demonstrate knowledge of and ability to discuss current policies and future directions for creativity in education and the world of work and leisure for young people Reading List: - Craft, A., Jeffrey, B., & Leibling, M.
