| DESCRIPTION | Contact: music.degreeplus@um.edu.mt Pre-requisite: Ability to play one of the musical instruments falling under this category Note: Following registration students will be asked to attend an informal audition. Objectives This course is open to students playing an instrument from the percussion group, such as drums, timpani, rattles, metal plates, wooden blocks etc. Following an informal audition students will be assigned to separate groups according to the instrument they play and/or their level of proficiency. In general, students will be introduced to the understanding of the rhythmic contexts and musical intent, learn about methods of sound production required by orchestras the physical characteristics of percussion instruments and the methods by which they produce sound. In this course, students will be given individual lessons as well as be introduced to play in groups.
