| DESCRIPTION | Contact: shotokankarate.degreeplus@um.edu.mt Target students: Open to all students. Students registering for the 'Shotokan Karate' unit will be required to complete ten sessions at the Tiger's Fist Dojo in Mqabba. suitable for all abilities and ages. A qualified instructor will prepare and direct sessions in order to enhance each student's abilities. Learning outcomes: By participating in this programme you will: 1. improve your people, team work and social skills 2. become familiar with the major components of Shotokan Karate Training, that is Kihon (basic training), Kata (forms), and Kumite (free sparring) 3. be taught the basics, starting with warm-up and stretching exercises to avoid injuries, then the mechanics of blocks and punches Important Note: The fee charged by the University to the student upon registration only covers the accreditation process by Degree Plus. All other fees (e.g. transport fees, membership fees, etc.) are to be borne by the student. Furthermore, when registering for this unit, participants are declaring that they are participating in these activities at their own risk, and assume full responsibility for their own judgments, behaviour and actions. Participants are aware that they shall hold the University of Malta, its employees, DegreePlus and MUSC, harmless from any liability ensuing as a result of damages caused.
