The Music option within the DegreePlus programme will give students the opportunity to develop their performance skills on a selected instrument or singing with assistance from professional mentors and performing musicians. Ultimately the aim is for students to get together to participate and play music for pleasure in an ensemble or orchestra formation. Students may register for one of the following Music Performance units which will be available in the forthcoming academic year:
DGP0701 - Music Performance: Brass Instruments *
DGP0702 - Music Performance: String Instruments *
DGP0703 -Music Performance:Percussion Instruments *
DGP0704 -Music Performance -Woodwind Instruments *
DGP0705 - Music Performance: Piano/Keyboards *
DGP0706 - Music Performance: Voice **
(*) These units are intended for students who already play one of the selected musical instrument and following registration students will be asked to sit for an 'audition' which will help them assess their level of proficiency.
(**) The unit in voice training is open to all students irrespective of their level of musical knowledge. Students will receive appropriate mentoring depending on their level of performance skills.
All units will include weekly coaching sessions and/or rehearsals. Moreover, participants will be encouraged to take part in performances in an ensemble or orchestra formation.
