DESCRIPTION This study-unit builds on knowledge acquired during previous years and puts emphasis on the factors important to delivering quality service with a particular focus on prevention and have the ability to apply the principles of dental public health, based on evidence based practice. Other subjects taught are Oral Health Promotion, Information Technology and The Management of a Dental Practice.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the study-unit the student should have knowledge of:

• The links between clinical practice and dental public health;
• Practical approaches to oral health promotion;
• The ability to design a strategy to tackle a major oral heath problem;
• The implementation of an evidence based approach to a clinical problem;
• The range of information needed in planning dental services;
• The requirements of setting up a dental practice, managing the practice staff and managing the practice operations.
