In 1992, the Council of the University approved the Statute creating the European Documentation and Research Centre (EDRC) at the University of Malta and incorporating within it the European Documentation Centre (EDC). The EDRC is charged to provide the services of the EDC in Malta as part of a global EDC network. Further information about the EDC network.
The main objective of the EDC is to ensure that the general public as well as the University Community have access to the legislation and documentation produced by the EU. The EDC receives all the Community documentation produced by the Parliament, the Commission and other Community institutions. These are housed in the EDC reference library which is open to the public Monday to Friday between 0830 and 1200hrs and between 1400 and 1600hrs in winter and 0830 and 1230hrs in summer. Furthermore, as an EDC it has privileged access to the Community databases via internet.
