The Faculty of Education has two general-purpose computer laboratories - one situated on the first floor (Computer Laboratory 1 - Room 224) of the Old Humanities building, and the other one exactly above it on the second floor (Computer Laboratory 2 - Room 325).
These laboratories are mainly used to teach students in the Faculty of Education how to use computers for personal use as well as how to use computers in the classroom. In order to cater for the former need the Faculty currently organises a number of courses for all its B.Ed.(Hons.) and P.G.C.E. students. On the other hand, to cater for its latter need it has designed and developed content-area-specific courses in various areas of the Secondary School Curriculum, as well as in Primary Education.
Each laboratory comprises 20 networked workstations running the more popular application packages, statistical and educational software, together with a tutor machine connected to a data/video projector.
In addition Lab 1 offers access to:
- One's IT Services accounts
- Colour printing (through your IT Services account)
- Scanners
- Interactive Whiteboard
It should be noted that in the mornings Lab 1 is available to all with an IT Services account (Open Access). At all other times the lab is reserved for Faculty use.
Please consult the Computer Lab timetables (accessible from the link below) for exact times.
