DESCRIPTION | Students will understand the benefits of extra-curricular resources such as exhibitions and museums and will study the relationship between these resources, education and cultural identity. Lectures focus on the use of the Maltese cultural heritage in the teaching of art in secondary schools. A special emphasis is made on prehistoric sites and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta. Learning outcomes: - Learning about the relationship between heritage sites and cultural identity - Learning to use heritage sites in the context of art lessons in secondary schools Reading List: - Stuart Hall and Paul du Gay, ‘Questions of Cultural Identity’. |

ADDITIONAL NOTES | Range of Acceptable Students: Offered to B.Ed (Hons) Art students. A Pass at Advanced Level at Grade C or better in Art or equivalent from a foreign university. Only 10 students will be registered for this study-unit including B. Ed. Art students. |
