Aims & Objectives

EMA-PS’ nature is multi-disciplinary and multi-national. It will develop three overarching strands for students to pursue their formation within frameworks of
(a) creativity and brain research;
(b) creativity in the humanities, by considering and researching contexts which encourage creativity (such as the arts) and contexts which inhibit it (such as social inequality, cultural deprivation, etc.);
(c) creativity and innovation in the economy, management, marketing.

As a consequence:

1. It aims to guide students in their learning so that they may:
• Immerse themselves in the complex realities of international and multicultural activity, thus equipping themselves better for a changing world;
• Work themselves out of the mind-set of the Knowledge Economy paradigm and towards the broader one emerging – the Creative Economy, gearing up to become strategists of Innovation and Creativity.

2. It will indicate possibilities for its graduates to work professionally in fields where:
• They can seek solutions to concerns which the EU’s transversal policies identify: social inequalities, injustices, discrimination, cultural and economic deprivation;
• They will stimulate deep reappraisals of teaching goals and methods, pedagogies and curricula across intellectual, social, cultural and academic fields;
• Their creative approach in managerial, business and economic contexts will, by generating a desire for more creativity, impact further on those environments;
• They can utilise Sport (and its essentially non-conflictual nature) and Performance (and its collective way of creation) to promote the spirit of collaboration and to deny that confrontation is inevitable.

3. It will provide a learning humus for Professionals to:
• Engage in higher research in the cognitive sciences, sports sciences, the performing arts, cultural theory, business management, marketing and globalisation studies;
• Develop and strengthen their teaching prowess in sport and in the performing arts;
• Attain higher creative qualities in business management and marketing.
