DESCRIPTION | The dissertation is a central element of the course, and which is expected to be between 25,000 to 30,000 words in length. Students will be expected to submit a detailed research proposal during the first year of study, soon after the research methodology course has been completed. The dissertations will need to be informed by a robust comparative education dimension, should have strong policy relevance, and should therefore be firmly grounded in empirical data. Students are encouraged to relate study unit assignments to their chosen research topic, in such a way that the different essays submitted in fulfilment of the requirement of each study unit contribute to different chapters in their dissertation. This is especially the case with the two Specialisation Units (EMC5704 and EMC5706), where students are expected to co-design, with their dissertation tutor and course co-ordinator, a study programme that supports the research they are carrying out for the dissertation. | ||||||
