The Department of Mechanical Engineering is committed to:

• Research: carry out research in a number of Mechanical Engineering fields, through a series of projects ranging from industrial collaborations to national and EU frameworks, postgraduate/undergraduate course related projects etc.
• Courses: run the B.Eng.(Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering, M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (scheduled to commence in October 2011), M.Sc. by Research, M.Phil. and Ph.D. for Research in Mechanical Engineering.
• Student Activities: support any ancillary student activity such as the Formula SAE and Final Year Projects.

• Design, development, manufacture and maintenance of mechanical engineering plants and components in the energy, renewable energy, naval and marine, building services, automotive and aerospace sectors.
• Technical management and consultancy in engineering related fields.
• Other related industrial engineering roles both locally and internationally.
