The Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering has made substantial investement and purchased a wide range of equipment for bulk heat treatment, surface engineering as well as materials testing and characterization.  All the equipment was purchased to be used for research and teaching activities as well with the intent of satisfying local industrial requirements  

At the Department of Metallurgy and Materials we have three laboratories that focus on:

The processing equipment was financed by the 4th Italian protocol whilst the testing equipment were financed by the European Regional Fund (ERDF) through the project "Developing an Interdisciplinary Material Testing and Rapid Prototyping R&D Facility (Ref. no. 012)" 

Students, researchers and customers from industry benefit respectively from the accumulated expertise within the department.
