DESCRIPTION This study-unit introduces the various certification requirements associated with building services including fuel tanks, gas installations, electrical distribution, lifts, escalators and HVAC systems. It also discusses building services installation and maintenance from an Operational Heat and Safety point of view.

Study-unit Aims:

The aim of the study-unit is to introduce the various certification requirements in building services such as fuel tanks, gas, electrical distribution, lifts, HVAC, health and safety and energy performance certification.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- List the certification requirements and associated procedures which need to be followed in order to certify the various building services within a building (fuel tanks, gas, electrical distribution, lifts and HVAC).
- Explain the Operational Health and Safety requirements in the various phases of building services installation and maintenance.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Use energy performance analysis tools in order to assess the energy performance of a building.
- Recommend prospective clients ways to improve the energy performance of a building.
