DESCRIPTION Objective:
To understand and design the various components in a complete electronic drive to meet different industrial applications.

Syllabus:
- Control of Induction Motor Drives
- methods of speed control for induction motor drives
- v/f control
- Slip control
- Vector Control

- Control of A.C. Brushless Motors
- V/f control
- Vector Control
- Stepper Motors

- Switched Reluctance drive
- Principle of operation of the SR machine
- Speed control of SR motors

Study-unit Aims:

The aim of the study-unit is to understand and design the various components in a complete electronic drive to meet different industrial applications.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to identify the various types of electrical motors and their methods of control.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to design electrical drive systems and implement high performance control of these systems.
