5 May 2014 - Conference at Dar l-Ewropa

The Institute for European Studies is organizing the second Jean Monnet Chair Conference on 'An Evolving EU Engaging a Changing Mediterranean Region'. This years' edition will be once again held on Monday 5th May, at Dar l-Ewropa, Valletta.

This forms part of the activities led by Professor Roderick Pace (Jean Monnet Chair and Director of the Institute for European Studies) focusing on research and teaching on the changes taking place in the EU and the Euro-Mediterranean region. A full conference program is available here.

This year's Conference will be in conjuction with Malta's tenth year anniversary of full E.U. membership.

Adapting to climate change from a regional perspective: in search of a requisite policy and legal framework for the Mediterranean

Debate European Commission President Candidates (28 Apr.)
In light of this year's upcoming EP election, and the subsequent election of the President of the European Commission, Maastricht University will be holding a debate in which candidates for the position of Commission President will debate their proposals.

The moderator will be Peter Spiegel, the Brussels Bureau Chief of the Financial Times and the debate will be streamed in Universities across Europe in collaboration with Euronews.

The Institute for European Studies will also be showing this debate live. This event will take place next Monday, 28 April 2014 at 19:00hrs in the European Documentation Centre. Due to limited seating, guests are kindly asked to RSVP on to confirm their seat.
