Applied Business Research Conference attracts Leading International Universities

The Department of Tourism Studies at the University of Malta is hosting this year’s International Conference on Applied Business Research (ICABR), which will bring to Malta some 150 participants from leading European, Asian and African universities and other research institutions.  The conference will be held at the Corinthia San Gorg Hotel between 22 and 25 September 2009.

Previous editions of ICABR have been held in Bangkok (2004), Beijing (2005), Brno, Czech Republic (2006) and Accra, Ghana (2008).  This year’s conference is being organised by Mendel University in Brno, Kasetsart University, Thailand, and the University of Malta.  Over 200 abstracts have already been submitted for presentation at the conference, which will aim to cover a broad range of economic, social, political and technical factors that influence decision-making aimed at value creation in the social and economic field.

Between 22 and 24 September, in addition to plenary sessions with keynote speakers, parallel sessions will be held on themes which include World Economy and Markets, Corporate Finance and Governance, Impacts of Globalisation on Agribusiness, Regional Development and Public Administration, Management and Marketing, IT application in Business and Education, and Human Resource Development and Education.

As a separate event within the ICABR conference, the Department of Tourism Studies is organising a Workshop on Tourism, with a focus on recent research and work in progress on various aspects of tourism, heritage and culture.  This will take place in the afternoon of Thursday 24 September 2009.

The ICABR Conference and the Workshop on Tourism are open to all interested members of the public, particularly those involved in the business, financial and tourism sectors – as practitioners, policy-makers or researchers.

Local participants can avail themselves of special rates for the 3-day conference, or for one-day only attendance.  Details may be obtained by emailing
