The University of Malta, in cooperation with the University of Central Lancashire (UK) and with the support of the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) is organising an international academic astronomy conference entitled, 'Hunting for the dark: the hidden side of galaxy formation'. This will, for the first time, see Malta host over one hundred leading astronomers with the EU, Australia, USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Chile, Russia and South Korea.
Topics to be discussed include dark matter, black holes, star formation and the faint outer regions of galaxies. The University of Malta is using this unique opportunity of the presence in Malta of so many of the world's leading experts in this exciting field to educate the public on the work of scientists and to promote careers in science by inviting a number of conference participants to deliver public talks.
The conference takes place at the Dolmen Resort Hotel in Qawra from 19 to 23 October 2009. Click here for further information.
