| Mr George M. Vella, B.A. (Gen), B.A. (Hons) Accty, M.A. (Financial Services), C.S.A., F.I.A., C.P.A. is a full-time lecturer in financial and, particularly, cost and management accounting. His research interests include the tax implications of international transfer pricing and various management accounting issues. Mr Vella started his career with the Education Department. He later spent some nine years at the Inland Revenue Department, initially as a worker-student and, subsequently, as an Administrative Officer. He left the public service to gain experience as a senior audit manager with a local firm of accountants and auditors before taking up employment as a financial controller with a parastatal concern. After this brief spell, he returned to the Education Department and performed duties in the post-secondary sector before joining the academic staff of the University. For the past seven years, or so, Mr Vella has also held a part-time appointment as International Students’ coordinator/adviser for the welfare of international students reading for a degree within the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.
