Ms Micallef lectures in the Department of Accountancy at the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy of the University of Malta.  She received the B.Com. (Accty) degree and the B.Accty (Hons) degree from the University of Malta, and read for postgraduate studies at the University of Reading, UK.

She has worked with a large audit firm both locally and abroad, where she also delivered various short training courses, before joining the University of Malta where she lectures financial accounting and reporting-related topics to students at the honours level at the University of Malta, and those reading for the M.B.A. programmes.

Her key research interests include the application of accounting standards in Malta and relevant aspects of local accounting-related law on the accountancy profession.

Ms Micallef is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants where she forms part of the Accounting Committee.  She is also a member of the European Accounting Association.
