Welcome to the Department of Economics Website

Our Department provides training in wide areas of economics. The Department, which forms part of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, offers courses leading to the undergraduate degrees of Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) with a specialism in Economics. We also offer a postgraduate Master of Arts degree in Economics and a postgraduate research programme to interested individuals, which leads to the award of a Ph.D. degree.

Members of staff undertake research in a wide range of areas, most especially in island and small states studies, for which the Department has gained an international reputation. Staff members regularly contribute to debates concerning various economic issues affecting the Maltese economy, and are also at times involved in the formulation of economic policy documents.
