Ms Marie Briguglio

Marie Briguglio graduated with a first class degree in Commerce and a first class honours degree in Economics from the University of Malta. She completed a Master of Science degree in Environmental and Resource Economics with Distinction at University College London in 1994. 

Marie teaches courses on Environmental Economics, Economics of EU Environment policy, and Social Marketing. She is currently reading for a PhD, and her research focuses on determinants of pro-environmental behaviour and the role/design of communication interventions to stimulate co-operation. As part of the Economics department, Marie also works for the Sustainable Lifestyles project, set up under the auspices of the President of Malta. 

Marie has over sixteen years of post-graduate professional experience in the environmental field, having held the position of deputy Director of the Environment Protection Directorate; Manager, European Union and Multilateral Affairs Unit; and Manager, Public Participation and Communication within the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA), inter alia. Marie was the National Focal point for the UNFCCC, and represented Malta on the European Environmental Agency management board. She has worked on assignment for the UNEP, the National Commission for Sustainable Development (Malta), various Ministries for Environment (including Montenegro, Turkey), and the EU commission.

Since 1994, Marie has also been a free-lancer in the media, producing, directing, writing and presenting numerous award-winning television series, documentaries, educational videos and PSAs aired on National TV and European stations. 

Marie lives in Gharghur with her husband and daughter.
