Dr Philip von Brockdorff graduated B.A. (Hons) Public Administration, M.Sc. Econ. (Wales) and D.Phil. (University of York). He is also a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (UK). His teaching areas include Macroeconomics, Public Sector Economics and Cost Benefit Analysis, while his research areas are mainly on Economics of Ageing Populations and Higher Education. He served as Permanent Secretary for six and a half years, and between 2008 and 2011 occupied the role of CEO at the Centre for Development, Research and Training in the Office of the Prime Minister. He is also Chair of Institute of Public Administration and Management at the University of Malta and between November 2008 and November 2011 served as Chairperson of the National Commission for Higher Education. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, FEMA. He is married to Christine nee' Delia and has three children, Bettina,Bernard and Nicola.
