Economics

The Bachelor of Commerce in Economics is designed to teach you the intricate threads of global economies. This course will grant you the perspectives of micro and macroeconomics, allowing you to become proficient in the seemingly enigmatic facets that shape financial landscapes. The broad and intricate taught study-units will provide you with the principles of supply and demand, market competition, and economic policy, gaining a profound understanding of how these elements influence societies and businesses.


Marketing

The Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing interprets and explains the dynamic world of consumer behaviour and brand strategy. Throughout the course, you will comprehend the psychology of buyers, market research techniques, and innovative communication strategies. The variety of taught study-units will explore different but intertwining facets, such as product development, digital marketing, and advertising in a rapidly evolving business landscape. By the end of the course, you will have sharpened your creative thinking and problem-solving skills.


Communication and Academic Skills Programme

The communication and academic skills programme complements students’ main course of study. It introduces them to writing and presenting as situated within academic contexts sensitive to specific disciplines and develops their competences for future careers.

Economics

Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Commerce degree course, you will be able to:

  • Comprehend how small states are defined, their special characteristics, and which aspects of economic theory are relevant to small country size and insularity.
  • Describe how markets work across various typologies of market structures, as well as be in a position to assess how changes to the cost of production change with output.
  • Understand how individual behaviour, market forces and government policies combine to affect the environment.
  • Demonstrate awareness about the unintended consequences of public policy.
  • Apply theoretical frameworks to existing trade between countries at different levels of development.
  • Inform policy makers through utility and choice frameworks about the impact of policy on individualsҠdecisions.

Marketing

Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Commerce degree course, you will:

  • Outline stages in the development of complex organisations and corresponding stages in the development of organisational psychology.
  • Navigate through the complexities of the research industry, design marketing, research processes, source data from secondary sources, develop primary data collection tools, manage sample design and produce research reports.
  • Recognise the importance of the Customer Journey as a business tool.
  • Describe the internal and external environments affecting digital marketing and analyse implications for the marketing mix.
  • Evaluate the complexities of the interaction and network approach to business markets.
  • Illustrate the links between marketing strategy and other elements of the organisation, such as organisational structure, culture, and core competencies.

Economics

By the end of the course, you will have acquired the necessary analytical prowess to navigate complex economic challenges. You will be able to choose roles such as economic analysis, policy advisory, and economic research within the public and private sectors. The course will also provide a strong academic foundation to pursue further studies at a postgraduate level, which may lead you to more specialised fields in economics and providing the possibility of becoming an academic or researcher.


Marketing

As a successful graduate, you will have an amplitude of roles to choose from. Such roles feature marketing management, digital strategy, and brand consultancy. The course also provides a strong foundation to enter an MBA with a marketing focus, and the possibility to enrol in alternative postgraduate courses that pave the way for academic careers or specialised marketing positions.
