COURSE OVERVIEW
The overall objectives of the Bachelor of Commerce undergraduate degree programme is to provide the participants with a high-quality and a career-oriented education for a diverse student population. It is an inter-disciplinary programme covering a wide range of subjects and areas of study. The course provides the participants with a broad understanding of the complexity and dynamics present in contemporary business and public organizations. It trains the participants to gain the conceptual skills and an analytical approach necessary to tackle the problems facing organizations in today’s environment.

The first three years of the course shall be common to both the course leading to the Bachelor of Commerce and to the course leading to the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours).

The first three years shall consist of study-units to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned, divided as follows:

First Year: 60 ECTS credits which shall be common for all students
Second Year: 60 ECTS credits of which at least 28 ECTS credits are assigned to each of the two areas of specialisation chosen
Third Year: 60 ECTS credits of which 30 ECTS credits are assigned to each of the two areas of specialisation chosen.

Students who successfully complete the Course by obtaining 180 ECTS credits shall be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Commerce or may register for the Honours Programme in one of the chosen areas of specialization if eligible in terms of the Bye-Laws for the course.
 
LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Commerce degree course, the participants will have gained a deep and broad understanding of the two areas of study which they would have followed. They will have acquired the conceptual skills and the analytical approach necessary to tackle problems in the areas of their specializations. They will be capable of developing effective strategies, managing risks and take effective decisions in their future careers.
 
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDY Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce qualify for a variety of roles in private, public and non-profit organizations. A Bachelor’s degree prepares the participants to enter most of the various fields of commerce, public enterprises and related areas at mid-level positions.

The Bachelor of Commerce degree gives graduates with a satisfactory performance access to the Bachelors of Commerce (Honours) in one of the areas of specialization.
 
COURSE INTENDED FOR The target audience is students who want to enter a career in an area of Commerce or of Public Administration.
 
MOBILITY PERIOD Students who wish to participate in an ERASMUS exchange are encouraged to do so during the second semester of the second year of the course.
 
ADMISSION AND
PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the General Entry Requirements for admission, namely, the Matriculation Certificate and Secondary Education Certificate passes at Grade 5 or better in Maltese, English Language and Mathematics.

Applicants must also satisfy the following Special Course Requirements:

An Intermediate Level pass in Pure Mathematics.

The admission requirements are applicable for courses commencing in October 2017.
