DESCRIPTION The purpose of this study-unit is to give students a good background on the different set-ups of Insurance Marketing and Sales. It will touch up on Insurance and Banking Products and the benefits therein with an outlook at the Life Cycle Model.

It will then go into areas such as Insurance and Investment Advice, Individual Portfolios, Insurance Company Portfolios, Asset and Liability Management and Portfolio Management in Insurance (touching upon the various Management of Key Risks).

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to give students a good background on the different set-ups of Insurance Marketing and Sales, Insurance and Banking Products and the Life Cycle Model in general.

The study-unit also aims to prepare students for Insurance and Investment Advice on these products and services and the construction of Individual Portfolios, and Insurance Company Portfolios.

Moreover, it aims to give the student a good background in Asset and Liability Management and Portfolio Management in Insurance (touching upon the various Management of Key Risks).

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Identify the different models of Insurance set-ups with their advantages and disadvantages and comprehend the concept of portfolio construction and management;
- Give advice to clients on the various services and products offered by insurance firms and banks through Bancassurance.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Distinguish between different insurance set-ups;
- Provide insurance and investment advice;
- Build a basic investment portfolio for individuals with different needs;
- Build an insurance investment portfolio;
- Write Asset and Liability Management and Investment Policies and Procedures for the firm.
