DEPARTMENT Management

DESCRIPTION Organisational Behaviour is an area of study that explores, among other things, different ways in which people and groups act, work and communicate within organizations. A number of factors, including leadership styles and knowledge sharing, as well as the work culture, are to be taken into consideration to understand their contribution and effect on work experience and productivity.

Numerous issues will be explored using a cross cultural framework for a better understanding of how organizations are managed and run in different cultural settings. Furthermore, the overall work experience within different industries will be discussed by taking a look at different social realities and societal contexts.

A historical perspective will also be considered to understand the development of different kinds of industries and organizations. So historical movements such as Taylorism and the use of the Ford model as well as the work of Marx and Weber, amongst others will be referred to.

And finally, we will also consider the dynamics of different scales of enterprise from family run business to multinational organizations. Different case studies will be used to elicit discussions and debate.
