| DESCRIPTION | The study-unit will comprise of the following topics/issues: - Conceptualizing EBMgt - A design-science approach to EBMgt - Areas of Organizational Behavior within the remit of EBMgt - Enabling EBMgt to bridge the gap between academics and practitioners - Decision management and decision-logic in EBMgt - Misconceptions and cognitive biases in decision-making (including data handling and interpretation) - Culture, strategy and organizational macro factors in EBMgt - Designing strategies for the implementation of EBMgt among management - The Politics of EBMgt and decision-making - Critical reflections about EBMgt Study-unit Aims: The aims of this study-unit are three: - To provide a broad overview of EBMgt within current organizational complex realities. - To create understanding and insights about the relevance of evidence and its impact on organizational performance and efficiency. - To appreciate pitfalls of misinterpreting or mishandling data and other sources of evidence at management level. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Explain the role of EBMgt in organizational life; - List the parameters of EBMgt; - Discuss EBMgt within a more systemic perspective of organizations; - Understand the wider and broader implications of good/bad decision-making. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Write a basic policy of effective decision-making based on EBMgt; - Highlight and pinpoint out biases and misconceptions in the decision-making process.
