| DESCRIPTION | This course takes a deeper look at the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy in an open economy. Also the course focuses on the long run determinants of economic growth as well as the effect of expectations on the main determinants. Study-unit Aims The aim of this course is to assist students in developing a solid and sound understanding of macroeconomics while taking a closer look at the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy The course also seems to focus on the long run determinants of economic growth and expectations. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1: understand the importance of macroeconomic development in an economy 2: understand the historical development of major macroeconomic theories 3: appreciate the development of economic activity particularly within Malta and the EU over a specific period of time. 2.
