DESCRIPTION Course Objective:

The course sets to re-interpret macroeconomic phenomena in terms of micro-economic fundamental behaviour. The emphasis is on the implications that inter-temporal and strategic decision-making as influenced by expectations bear for macroeconomic variables such as consumption, . investment, imports, exports, money and interest rates, the labour market and economic growth. The important conclusion of the course is the emphasis on supply-side structural features of the economy, as opposed to aggregate demand management, as being the main determinant of economic performance.

- Consumption investment and saving in single representative agent models
- Money and interest rates Aggregate demand
- Labour market and aggregate supply
- Economic growth
- Applications to the Maltese economy
