| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit covers international trade theory, including comparative advantage, gains from trade, trade under imperfect competition, trade policy including tariffs and other trade restrictions, discriminatory and protective trade policies, regional blocs, and the political economy of trade policy. The study-unit will also address macroeconomic and monetary issues such as the performance of flexible or fixed exchange rate regimes, the effects of global capital markets, alternative models of balance of payments adjustments, the international coordination of macroeconomic policies and the international monetary systems.
