Members of staff who wish to upgrade their cover are required to fill in the relevant proposal form disclosing full medical history. If dependents are being included for the first time or are upgrading their cover, they should include their details on the staff member’s proposal form.  Pre-existing conditions (if any) will not be covered under the upgraded cover for staff members and on all covers for dependents.

As last year Atlas PPP Healthcare is offering the Dental Plan to staff that are insured under options 2 or 3 only. Staff wishing to include this benefit to their cover is to fill in the Dental Plan application form.

The University will continue to give the opportunity to its employees to pay the premium in monthly instalments. Therefore, members of staff who have not taken this option last year, and would like to opt for it now, are required to fill in the relevant form.

The University undertakes to contribute on a pro-rata basis, the premium of its employees who are engaged on a part-time or reduced hour basis. Since staff working on such basis is not insured automatically, they are to contact Ms Elvia Pace to check whether they are insured or not.

All relevant forms and the new ‘Table of Benefits’ may be downloaded from the website.

Alternatively forms may be obtained from the office of the Employee Benefit Scheme, Room 214, Administration Building, University of Malta, Msida. All duly filled in and signed forms are to reach this office by not later than Thursday, 3rd March 2016. Late returns will not be considered.

Moreover, the Committee will be holding a meeting for all members of staff on Thursday 25 February 2016 at 12.30pm at the Lecture Centre LT2 (Francis Ebejer Hall), MIB Malta Ltd and Atlas PPP Healthcare representatives will explain various levels of Health cover options under the scheme and answer any queries that may arise.

WRFC: Purchase of Bicycle & Cycling Equipment

The introduction of a new sub-category of applications


The Work Resources Fund Committee for Support Staff was contacted by the ‘University of Malta Green Travel Plan Committee’ asking the WRFC to consider allowing support staff to apply for refunds in connection with purchases of bicycles and cycling equipment in order to promote cycling as a means of transport to and from the University.

After carefully discussing this request, the Committee agreed to introduce a new sub-category of applications for the ‘Purchase of an Adult Bicycle & Cycling Equipment’, allocating the sum of €235 for the purchase of one adult bicycle and €120 for cycling equipment. The application must also be supported by a quotation.  In any one year, applications will only be considered for one section, that is, either in connection with the adult bicycle or the cycling equipment.

These applications will be a sub-category of the Computer and Other Equipment Category; therefore, members of staff who benefited from a refund for the purchase of a computer may not apply for the purchase of an adult bicycle unless 3 years have elapsed from such an approval.  In the same manner, if a member of staff benefits from a refund of an adult bicycle, he/she may not apply for a refund in connection with the purchase of a computer unless 3 years have elapsed.

WRFC: Important Notice to Staff

As from this year payment of work resources funds will be made by direct credit instead of by cheque. Therefore, support staff whose salary is directly credited to their bank account, will likewise be credited with reimbursement of work resources funds. Others whose salary is paid by cheque will continue to be reimbursed for work resources funds in the same way as before.

WRFC: Important Notice for Support Staff

Work Resources Fund Committee for Support Staff

At its meeting held on Wednesday, 25 July 2012, the Work Resources Fund Committee decided that with immediate effect, when support staff applies for courses held by the IT Services, payment for the course will be effected by the applicant who may then apply for reimbursement through their work resources fund subject to the personal allocation.

As is done for other courses, the Committee will require a letter of regular attendance before reimbursing any approved funds. To apply for refund for such courses, applicants would need to complete the 'Local Courses' application form and send it as usual to the Secretary, Room 316, NAWRF, Administration Building.
