TITLE Effective Communication for Physiotherapists

UM LEVEL 01 - Year 1 in Modular Undergraduate Course

MQF LEVEL 5

ECTS CREDITS 2

DEPARTMENT Physiotherapy

DESCRIPTION This study-unit will consist of a series of lectures on how to engage in effective communication. Each lecture will present individual elements that when combined will lead to more effective communication. In between lectures, students will be encouraged to practice the elements of communication in their daily lives, so that they can better assimilate the theory presented to them during these lectures.

The elements that make effective communication will be presented in a progressive manner throughout the study-unit. By the end of the study-unit students would have engaged in group discussions, self-reflection and analysis of verbal communication. They will be able to apply a combination of elements within a single interaction - an approach not dissimilar to the application of multiple rationales and modalities that lead to an effective therapeutic intervention.
