Management will be founded on evidence-based practice. In order to help in the preparation of the examination, students will be asked to complete a written assignment and a presentation task. Self-directed study is also required (approximately 15-20 hours is suggested).

Learning Outcomes:

- Describe the major stages in normal embryological development
- Recognise the impact of embryonic defects on the cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal systems
- Explain factors which influence development of the cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal systems
- Describe the normal pattern of growth and development in the cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal systems
- Know the pathophysiology of common paediatric cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal problems
- Explain abnormal characteristics based on knowledge of normal development
- Explain the role and scope of the paediatric physiotherapist in a multiprofessional context
