Academic Work Resources Fund and Continuous Professional Development
The Academic Resources Fund and the Continuous Professional Development Fund are operated through the use of a debit card, thus making such funds easily accessible to all eligible members of staff.
Members of staff will be provided with a Bank of Valletta Visa Cashlink card. Further information regarding usage this card can be found from Bank of Valletta’s website. Members of staff can make use of this debit card both locally and abroad, including purchasing over the Internet.
Whilst the debit card will remain the property of the University of Malta, each individual will have a specific bank account designated to him/her. The annual work resource allocation will be deposited in the debit card bank account in the beginning of the calendar year.
Please refer to pages 26-34 of the Manual of Conduct & Procedures for the Academic Resources Policy and Procedure Guidelines. Members of staff are encouraged to familiarise themselves with this document in particular Section 3.6, the ‘Conditions of Participation’ since strict adherence to these policies is mandatory. Rates of allocation can be viewed from pages 79-89 of the Collective Agreement.
Newly recruited members of staff are kindly requested to fill in the application form and call personally at the Office of HRM&D, Room 216A, Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00pm, and between 2.00pm and 5.00pm. A photocopy of the front and back of the ID card is required for bank purposes. Please provide the copy of the ID card at this Office together with your application form. Furthermore members of staff will be required to fill in a bank form and an additional opening of accounts form which can be collected from Room 216A as well.
The Office of HRM&D will contact members of staff individually to collect the debit cards when these are made available by the bank.
